Course Highlights

Duration – 1½ years : 5 levels

This master program offers dental practitioners the thorough knowledge of laser basics and fundamentals, to advanced laser techniques and methods with both diodes and erbium lasers. It will enable the dental practitioners to expertise in the field of Soft(Diodes) and all Tissue(Erbium) Dental Lasers.

DIDACTIC PROGRAMME:

Module 1: Online | 15 hrs | Lectures on Weekends

  • Orientation of the individual topics and course design
  • Fundamentals- Light and Optics- part 1, part 2, part 3.
  • History behind Lasers
  • Lasers in other fields
  • Electromagnetic spectrum in detail
  • Classification of Lasers
  • Physical Principles, construction, and technical concepts of a laser system
  • Application of lasers in Dentistry-in brief
  • Different wave modes and its applications
  • Introduction to Diodes, Nd:YAG, Erbium, CO2 – in brief part 1, part 2.

Module 2: Online | 15 hrs | Lectures on Weekends

  • Laser Safety
  • Clinical applications of diodes – soft tissue basics
  • Diode Lasers for Minor periodontal surgery.
  • Diode Lasers- Photodynamic therapy.
  • Diode Lasers- Photo-biomodulation
  • Diode lasers- Endodontic applications.
  • Diode Lasers- in biopsy and minor oral surgery.
  • Diode Lasers- Non surgical periodontal therapy
  • Diodes in Orthodontics
  • Diodes in pedodontics
  • Diode lasers in prosthodontics
  • Diodes in minor oral surgery procedures
  • NdYag Lasers and its applications in dentistry

Module 3: Onsite Training Program | 50 hrs | 5 days

Discussion and approval of Main thesis methodology.

This module will be available at Cochin-India, Dubai, Addis Ababa-Ethiopia, Indonesia centers for the convenience of the international dentist from different parts of the world.

  • Diode lasers, techniques and its applications- an overview
  • Photo biomodulation- Light Therapy
  • Erbium laser- fundamentals and its applications in Orthodontics, Periodontics, Pedodontics, Endodontics.
  • Multiple Wavelength Therapy

Hands-on

  • Table top hands-on on different wavelengths (diodes) and erbium
  • Patient hands-on/video demonstration of different techniques.

Thesis Topic Selection and Discussion

 

Module 4: Online | 70 hrs (Lectures 10 hrs + Thesis 60 hrs) | Lectures on Weekends

  • Role of lasers in Aesthetic dentistry
  • Laser bleaching of discoloured teeth
  • Lasers in Implantology
  • Low level Laser Therapy in detail.
  • Journal club presentation by the participants.

Thesis guidance, Completion and Approval

 

Module 5: Onsite – Uni Pegasso, Roma, Italy | 30hrs

  • Lectures by Italian faculty members
  • Clinical Cases/Thesis presentation
  • Examination
  • Graduation Ceremony
